Contexto: "The model of diglossia (as described in Ferguson 1959) was proposed by Gupta (1992; 1994a) to address this code-switching between the varieties. It re-casts Singlish as a colloquial form of Singapore English – namely, Singapore Colloquial English (SCE) – spoken by educated Singapore English speakers to indicate informality or solidarity."
