Contexto: "Using automatic methods Biber et al. (1999: 990ff) extract a wide range of prefabricated sequences, called ‘lexical bundles’, which they define as “simple sequences of word forms that commonly go together in natural discourse”. These sequences, which mostly display syntactic and semantic regularity, fulfil a range of major discourse functions, such as hedging, organizing, etc. They are typically verbal and clausal units in speech (e.g. I don’t know, I think I might, what’s the matter with) and extended nominal phrases and prepositional phrases in writing (e.g. the effect of, in the case of, the extent to which)"
