Definição: "Rootedness makes individuals aware of their identity -- they need to know where they come from to understand who they are. This concept is particularly important for bi-cultural people, as it often seems their ancestors' culture clashes with the culture they experience on a daily basis. Cultural rootedness promotes a connection with people's ancestral roots, but it also encourages a connection with the place they live in. Life in community is important because it gives them a general sense of identity and provides a link between them, furthering the idea of individuality within collectivity. Thus, cultural rootedness promotes people's individual identities through the link with their community, their geographic location, their ancestors, and their ethnos."
